Fire Extinguisher Technician (Junior Level)
Job Summary:

The Fire Extinguisher Technician serves as an important part of the Fire Safety First team, responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of fire extinguishers to ensure they are fully functional and capable of suppressing fires effectively. The role requires excellent customer service, adherence to safety codes, and active communication with clients, building owners, and management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ensure customers receive high‑quality service and meet expectations before leaving the job site.

Interact with clients, building owners, managers, and occupants to communicate work performed.

Conduct routine inspections of fire extinguishers for wear, damage, or tampering.

Verify extinguishers are properly labeled, accessible, and compliant with safety codes.

Perform scheduled maintenance, replacing seals, O‑rings, gauges, and other components as needed.

Recharge extinguishers after use or per schedule, confirming correct pressure and extinguishing agent.

Maintain accurate records of test results, retesting schedules, inspections, maintenance, recharging, and repairs.

Diagnose and repair malfunctioning extinguishers, replacing or repairing valves, hoses, nozzles, and handles.

Track inventory of extinguishers and related equipment, monitoring stock levels and reordering supplies.

Ensure all work adheres to local, state, and national fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Conduct hydrostatic tests on extinguishers to assess structural integrity and pressure resistance.

Remain available for emergency calls to recharge or repair extinguishers during critical situations.

Stay current on fire extinguisher technology and safety regulations through training and professional development.

Use the company‑provided service vehicle, keeping it well‑maintained and fully stocked with tools and supplies.

Initiate and complete work independently while collaborating with the team.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills at all levels of FSF’s organization.

Identify continuous improvement opportunities and offer solutions to promote efficiency.

Adhere to all company employment policies and safe practices, specifically CAL OSHA and related safety measures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience / Training / Education

High school diploma.

California Title 19 Certificate of Registration types 1 and 2 preferred (will consider candidates seeking certification).

NFPA‑10 Certification or manufacturer‑specific certification or training preferred.

2+ years of experience in fire extinguisher inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair within large‑scale, high‑volume facilities.

Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards related to fire extinguishers.

Job Type

Full‑time, on‑site, Monday‑Friday.

40 hours per week.

Special Requirements

Ability to travel to various locations and start early (6:00 a.m.).

Insurability to drive with a clean Motor Vehicle Report.

Pass pre‑placement physical and drug test.
