Job Description
Job Summary:
Perform necessary activities under the direct guidance of the teacher.
Qualifications:
High school diploma.
Reports To:
Building level administrator, Supervisor of Exceptional Learners
FLSA Status:
Non-exempt. Overtime pay is required.
Scope of Responsibility / Essential Functions:
Required to work under the direct guidance of the classroom teacher unless otherwise assigned to another supervisor.
Assist students with toileting, catheterization, feeding, and other self-help activities as required.
Assist individual pupils and small groups in developing academic skills.
Perform clerical duties such as preparing instructional materials, making reports, checking papers, and recording grades (clerical duties are not, however, limited to this list).
Maintain student records as directed by the classroom teacher.
Administer diagnostic tools as directed by the teacher.
Assist in preparing the classroom and organizing instructional materials and equipment as directed by the teacher.
Monitor the classroom when the teacher attends required meetings, provides consultation, etc.
Attend all in-service and faculty meetings when directed by immediate supervisors or the Director of Schools.
Do not discuss confidential school business or student records in or out of school or with peers.
Assist in the supervision of students on bus trips as directed by the building-level administrator.
Perform lunchroom, recess/playground, before or after school duty.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Project a positive image of the Cannon County School District at all times.
Keep information confidential concerning school business.
Act in a professional manner at all times.
May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities.
Complete Criminal Justice fingerprint/background process and drug screen.
Maintain appropriate attendance record.
Dress neatly and appropriately according to system dress code.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Special Education Teacher, Principal, Supervisor of Exceptional Learning, and/or Director of Schools.

Physical Demands
This job may require lifting or carrying of objects that exceed fifty (50) pounds, with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Other physical demands may include pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, talking, hearing, seeing, and climbing.

Normal working environment.
