Job Description
The Title I Reading Specialist is assigned the responsibility of assisting Title I students and their families to ensure attaining and maintaining academic success as well as coaching staff in following with the protocols for the Title I program.
Primary Responsibility to: Director of Programs and School Principal
Responsibilities
Plans a program of instruction that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students in collaboration with the principal and classroom teacher as well as other personnel working with the student.
Works with the principal and classroom teachers to develop a schedule for delivery of instruction.
Provides instruction individually or in small groups by implementing lessons or instructional activities designed to meet the students' academic needs.
Performs clerical functions directly related to the instructional assignment for the purpose of instructing students (i.e. preparing materials, maintaining instructional records for student files, communicating with parents, etc.).
Monitors and records student progress.
Plans Parent Family Nights.
Communicates regularly with the parents or guardians of the student.
Assists parents in understanding Title I and encourages their involvement in school activities.
Administers and interprets diagnostic and achievement tests to assess student needs and monitor progress.
Attends conferences, in-service and workshops to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
Monitors and maintains the Title I Crate so that it is up to date and deadlines are met.
Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
Assists in the selection of instruction material.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required
Skills to organize and manage multiple tasks.
Knowledge of principles of child development and instructional processes.
College degree and appropriate teacher certification; preferred Masters Degree.
Knowledge of the reading process and how to teach it.
Good math skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to develop creative solutions.
Knowledge of state and federal policies and procedures regarding Title Programs.
Computer skills including word processing, email, student data management system, internet.
Patience and flexibility.
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $4,100 to $5,595 Per Month
