Reports to: Principal

Terms of Employment: 10/12 Months

Salary: Pay Grade - 52

Starting Date: Jun 8, 2026

Minimum Salary – Custodian $16.48 Hourly.

Maximum of 5 years relevant experience credit is available based on approved documentation by Human Resources.

Job Description
Employees in this class perform manual labor involving housekeeping and minor building maintenance tasks, using a variety of tools and light equipment. Tasks include cleaning floors, windows, bathrooms, replacing bulbs and paper supplies, building security, and routine grounds maintenance. Employees work inside and outside, and are exposed to hazards such as loud noise, vibration, moving mechanical parts, electrical current, chemicals and bodily fluids, subject to OSHA blood‑borne pathogen requirements. Work is performed under regular supervision and evaluated through observation and inspection.

Essential Job Functions

Cleans buildings, vacuums, mops, sweeps, dusts, cleans restrooms and fixtures, cleans windows, shampoos carpet, buffers and waxes floors.

Stocks restrooms with paper products and soap.

Replaces bulbs, fuses, toilet and sink parts; unstops clogs.

Performs maintenance tasks including removing leaves and debris, cleaning sidewalks, parking lots and porches, locking and unlocking buildings, setting up rooms for meetings, moving furniture, hauling off trash, monitoring HVAC and making minor repairs.

Operates power tools, including vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners and buffers; maintains necessary inventory of cleaning supplies.

Performs related tasks and other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Minimum Training and Experience

Ability to read and write; education and experience that produce the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Working knowledge of methods and techniques applied in unskilled manual labor and custodial work.

Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, equipment for cleaning and maintenance of buildings and grounds.

Skill with hand tools, light equipment, and materials used in assigned work.

Familiarity with occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Basic custodial and cleaning practices.

Ability to work productively without close supervision, respond courteously to citizens.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Required to obtain a CDL and Bus License.

High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Requirements
Must be able to perform basic operational functions such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, speaking, hearing and repetitive motions.

Must be able to exert medium work up to 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.

Must have visual acuity to operate light equipment such as vacuum cleaners and small trucks safely.
