Gorham Middle School - School Counselor
Gorham Middle School is seeking a compassionate, student-centered school counselor to join our team starting in the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate is committed to supporting the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of young adolescents while working collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
Responsibilities
Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social‑emotional well‑being, academic progress, and post‑secondary readiness
Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned to state and national standards
Collaborate with grade‑level teams, administration, and student support staff to address student needs
Use data to identify trends, inform interventions, and monitor student progress
Assist with student scheduling, transitions, and academic planning
Communicate proactively with families and connect them with appropriate resources
Participate in school‑wide initiatives, professional development, and team meetings
Qualifications
Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field required
Maine certification as a School Counselor (075) required or anticipated by start date
Experience working with middle school students preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
Knowledge of adolescent development, social‑emotional learning, and restorative practices preferred
