Job Description
RRPS ATHLETIC COACH - EAGLE RIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL
Essential Responsibilities
Produce competitive individuals and teams while teaching character and life skills.
Verify that any prospective athlete has completed and submitted the required Interscholastic Athletic Participation Form, physical, and proof of insurance before participation. Keep a copy on file in the school athletic office.
Explain and discuss the RRPS Athletic Code of Conduct with athletes in your program. Maintain a file containing a copy of the code of conduct for each athlete with signatures indicating understanding.
Prepare and submit to the athletic office the following items at the end of the season:
A list of all lettermen in your program.
A complete inventory of equipment.
All requests for new equipment for the next year by the deadline set by the athletic director.
Evaluations of Assistant, JV, 9th grade coaches.
Compile and distribute to all faculty members, assistant principals, attendance office and online, a list of athletes to be excused from school on each road trip.
Check with Athletic Coordinator on the Monday prior to all road trips to confirm departure details and adjust if necessary.
Ensure all equipment is properly stored and cared for at the end of the season.
Provide a safekeeping place for valuables during practice and game time.
Demand that athletes conduct themselves as suitable representatives of the city and school at all times.
Ensure athletes are well informed of all eligibility rules and regulations.
Limit the time students spend out of school to a minimum.
Ensure no student in your program participates in more games/contest than permitted by the NMAA.
Supervise assistant coaches and all athletic teams in your program.
Be knowledgeable of NMAA rules and regulations for your sport and keep abreast of changes.
Represent RRPS professionally and demand the same expectations of assistant coaches.
Encourage athletes to participate in as many sports as possible.
Develop criteria for earning a letter in your sport.
Conduct mandatory parent preseason meetings reviewing expectations, rules, information, etc.
