Job Description
Applicants must hold a current Arkansas Educator License with one of the following licensure codes: 125-Instrumental Music K-12, 206-Instrumental Music 7-12, 205-Instrumental Music PK-8, or 262-Instrumental Music. Applicants with an out-of-state teaching certificate must provide documentation that they have started reciprocity procedures as required by the Arkansas Department of Education. Applicants who do not hold a current Arkansas Educator License must be able to obtain it prior to hire date.
It is preferred that applicants hold a current Arkansas Educator License with code 418-Career Development as well.
The High School Band Director and Middle School Career Courses Teacher is responsible for leading, developing, and sustaining a comprehensive and highly visible band program that promotes musical excellence, student leadership, school spirit, and community pride, while also providing high-quality instruction in assigned middle school career and exploratory courses.
The Band Director must plan, organize, and direct all facets of the high school instrumental music program, including concert band, pep band, and marching band—a required component of this position. The individual must provide students with rigorous instruction in music performance, theory, discipline, teamwork, and leadership while maintaining high standards for student achievement, conduct, and school representation.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead and supervise the marching band program, including rehearsals, summer practices, band camps, halftime performances, pep performances, and competitions.
Attend all varsity football games (home and away). Organize pregame and halftime performances, coordinate pep band music, supervise students during travel and events, and ensure the band’s presence contributes positively to school spirit.
Lead band participation in all parades, public ceremonies, school celebrations, holiday events, and other community functions, serving as an ambassador for the school district.
Serve as a career courses teacher in the middle school, instructing students in career pathways, workforce readiness, leadership development, technology applications, and real-world skills.
Create engaging lessons that align with district curriculum standards and support student growth in communication, collaboration, responsibility, and career awareness.
Exhibit strong organizational skills, manage extended duty assignments beyond the regular school day, and commit to working evenings, weekends, summer rehearsals, and public events as needed.
The position requires exceptional leadership, communication, classroom management, and a passion for building a culture of excellence in both classroom and music programs.
