
Photography Instructor

Millbrook School seeks a photography teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year. The teacher will teach all levels of photography while stewarding Millbrook's photography studio space.
Candidate technical experience includes:
Comfort with Mac operating systems and proficiency with Adobe Photoshop.
Knowledge of or willingness to learn Dropbox for archiving student work.
Large and medium format digital printing.
Experience with photographic alternative processes, such as cyanotype.
Experience with darkroom development and printing.
Photography at Millbrook is a vibrant program that serves students at the beginning of their artistic journeys and those who are advanced and may attend art school. Millbrook's Art Department is highly collaborative, working in the Holbrook Arts Center, where visual and performing arts are gathered under one roof. Here, teachers and students explore a contemporary framework for art‑making and performance that is interdisciplinary both within the arts center and beyond.
Additional responsibilities include coaching or supervising an afternoon program for two of three seasons, supporting our social‑emotional program on Saturday mornings, and serving as an advisor for up to six students. Full‑time faculty members are expected to participate in community service, evening responsibilities, activities, assemblies, and attend required meetings and workshops. Faculty may also be expected to perform residential life duties and may be provided housing.
Salary range for this teaching position is $41,000 – $90,000. Placement in the salary range is determined by total teaching experience, years worked at Millbrook School, and other factors permitted by law.
Education and Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in the subject being taught or a related field.
Coaching and teaching experience preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills.
Clean & valid driver’s license.
Specific Requirements / Essential Functions
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
Must have the ability to work harmoniously and effectively with others.
Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
Must have patience, tact, and enthusiasm when dealing with personnel, students, and families.
Must be proficient in the composition of written communication.
Physical & Sensory Requirements
Must function independently and be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must be able to work in person, on campus.
Must be flexible and willing to adapt to new technology, teaching methods and/or schedules.
Must be able to physically teach, coach, advise, attend meetings & be an active member of residential life.
Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move equipment, supplies, etc., without restrictions.
If coaching, must be willing & able to travel & attend sporting events on nights and weekends.
Faculty members must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
Working Conditions
Typical office and classroom conditions.
Involved in residential life in the dining hall, chapel and dorms.
Outdoor weather and/or indoor conditions while coaching.
Bursts of heavy traffic, congestion, and teenage exuberance throughout the day.
