Title Examiner – Texas Experience Required
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Title Examiner with 5+ years of title examination experience focusing on Residential Lot/Block properties. The ideal candidate will perform thorough title searches, review title documents, and prepare commitments. Texas experience is required, and multi‑state expertise is valued.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct a thorough search of public records and complete examination to assess the property’s status of title, while adhering to regulatory title standards and Underwriter’s policies and procedures.
Review documents affecting title to property, such as mortgages, deeds, probate records, trust agreements, etc.
Read and interpret real estate documents, legal proceedings, maps, and surveys.
Assemble Title Commitments to be used to issue a Final Title Policy.
Communicate effectively with Underwriters, Title Officers, Escrow Officers, and Escrow Processing Teams.
Mentor junior examiners on various title issues.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5+ years of Texas title examination experience.
Strong understanding of the title examination process and procedures, related documentation, and their effect on title.
Residential Lot/Block examination experience required; Acreage (metes and bounds) experience preferred.
Proficient in the use of Title Data (TIMS) title plant software, Deed Plotter software, and County Government websites.
Good research and investigation skills; understands legal terms and stays current on legal developments affecting real property.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and customer service skills.
Ability to prioritize according to departmental guidelines, maintain organization, meet deadlines, and handle constantly changing priorities with strong follow‑through.
Basic computer skills and ability to learn and use various software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Acrobat.
Attention to detail combined with analytical and problem‑solving skills.
