Job Summary
Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teach assigned classes in both science and social studies at the designated times.

Plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs and interests of students.

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and suitable for student maturity and interests.

Prepare lessons and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.

Deliver instruction to students using a variety of techniques, media, and strategies aligning with curriculum goals.

Set clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects and communicate these objectives to students.

Maintain positive classroom behavior through reasonable rules and a disciplinary plan.

Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports.

Support students with learning disabilities, including seeking assistance from district specialists.

Maintain accurate records (attendance, grades, discipline) in accordance with law and district policy.

Assist administration in implementing policies governing student life, conduct, and classroom discipline.

Participate in grade-level, subject-area, and professional development committees and meetings.

Be available to students, parents, and substitutes outside instructional hours as reasonably required.

Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and concerns.

Serve on IEP or 504 teams, implementing special educational plans.

Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides or volunteers, evaluating their performance.

Demonstrate professional competence, serve as a positive role model, and maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, or harassment as directed by board policy.

Maintain confidentiality of all school-related matters.

Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor or superintendent.

Qualifications

Clearance on all background checks required by law.

Bachelor’s degree.

Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate.

Appropriate field certification.

Skills and Abilities
Language:

Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures, and governmental regulations; complete forms; write reports and correspond with parents; present information effectively.

Computation:

Work with probability and statistical inference; apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Reasoning:

Solve problems in varied situations; interpret written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions; apply current educational theory and instructional techniques.

Technology:

Perform basic computer functions; use district software for recording grades and locating student information; utilize smart boards, projectors, and other instructional technology.

Additional:

Identify individual student needs and adapt instruction; maintain relationships with students, peers, and parents; multitask effectively.

Physical Demands
Requires walking, hearing, speaking, moving around the classroom, and maintaining vision and reading ability; ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.; frequent standing, bending, curling, and reaching; occasional outdoor activity under varying weather conditions.

Conditions and Environment
