Journeyman Lineman

Responsibilities
Perform diversified construction and maintenance on the cooperative’s poles, power lines and auxiliary facilities and equipment for the transmission and distribution of electricity.
Provide for connect and disconnection members, installation and removal of transformers, security lights, investigating consumer complaints and making repairs of electric distribution lines.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of the North Carolina apprenticeship program or equivalent program leading to full qualification as a journeyman lineman with a minimum of 1-year experience as an Apprentice Lineman IV.
Candidate must:
Possess knowledge of RUS specifications and proficiency in all phases of line construction and maintenance.
Be able to work with diverse membership and general public and possess excellent communication skills.
Have the ability to acquire and maintain a valid NC commercial driver’s license and to operate a motorized vehicle without assistance.
Have physical ability to climb poles of 25 feet and greater heights.
Possess the physical strength to lift up to 60 pounds without external assistance.
Position is subject to working in extreme inclement weather of all kinds including extreme cold and heat for extended period of times, working on-call duty on a rotating basis and must reside within 30 highway miles of 376 Grindstone Rd., Waynesville, NC 28725.
