Job Description
Lake Norman Charter is seeking an Exceptional Children’s Teacher Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year. This position serves students in self-contained grades 5-8 at LNC Middle.
Lake Norman Charter is a K‑12 public charter school that provides a rigorous and comprehensive educational environment to develop students with a focus on college readiness, leadership, and social responsibility.
Responsibilities
Observe and monitor students’ performance. Collect and document data to assess progress on Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals.
Tutor and support EC students individually or in small groups across all curricular areas to reinforce learning concepts presented by the teacher.
Coordinate regularly with the EC and regular education teachers to assist with lesson preparation and material adaptation.
Assist with implementation of accommodations, behavior plans, and related service delivery in a student’s IEP.
Provide assistance with the supervision and transition of EC students in hallways, classrooms, lunch, and other school locations.
Supervise students in non‑classroom activities such as carpool, lunch, recess, etc.
Assist and monitor EC students during recess, assemblies, emergency drills, and field trips.
Assist with personal care needs of students with disabilities (feeding, toileting, diapering).
Participate in training related to performing job duties.
Perform related tasks as required or directed by the building principal.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent certification.
Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
Preference for previous teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience.
Job Requirements
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
