OVERVIEW
Assists in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications towers and support structures and related telecommunications equipment. Tower Technicians work irregular hours, travel frequently, and work at great heights in extreme weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Climbsandworksoncommunicationstowers forthepurposeofinstalling,replacing,andrepairingantennasystemsequipment;performstowermaintenanceunderclosesupervision.
Thebasicuseandcareofhandtoolsandmechanicalequipment.
Knowsthe hazardsassociatedwithtowerclimbing,constructionequipment,andworkingonor nearenergizedlinesand equipment.
Theabilitytoclimbtallstructures(100 feetormore)with50lb.load.
Analyzessituationsaccuratelyandadoptsanappropriatecourseofaction.
Communicatesorallyandinwriting.
Followsinstructionsaccuratelyandcompleteassignedcourseofaction.
Recognizessafetyhazards andperformingdutiesinasafemanner.
Maintainsclean,orderlyenvironmentadheringtocompanypoliciesandindustryregulation/standard(s)(OSHA)
Knowledgeofbasictowerriggingtechniques.
Assistswithtestingprocedures(sweeps,PIM, fibertestingetc.)
Proficientwithinstallationofantennas,RRH’s,ground kits,RETsystems.
Runsrequiredlinestotopofthetower;groundscoaxlinesandbuildsdifferentsizesandtypesofconnectors.
