St. Matthew Catholic School – 6th‑8th Grade Science Teacher (2026‑2027 School Year)
Serving a diverse community of over 600 students from Kindergarten‑8th grade, our teachers collaborate to educate students to a high standard in academics and character. We strive to develop our students to be PEARLS: People with strong character, Effective communicators, Active Christians, Responsible citizens, and Lifelong learners.
St. Matthew’s has a supportive parish community and a community of school parents who partner with us. We provide resources for all staff and set teachers up for success. As a double‑class school, teachers have partner teachers to collaborate with and full‑time instructional aides in each classroom from K‑4th, and a shared aide in 5th grade. Teachers have access to a generous classroom supply fund for enrichment beyond the provided basic supplies.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS Degree
Willingness to embrace the Catholic values and traditions of Saint Matthew Catholic School
Enthusiasm for teamwork, collaboration, and collective efficacy
Excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience teaching in a Catholic school (ideally at the junior high level)
Experience teaching Science
Valid California teaching credential (or equivalent from another state) OR in the process of obtaining a CA Teaching Credential
MA Degree
Expertise with technology including various devices, document camera, Google, SmartBoard
Responsibilities
Support Saint Matthew Catholic School’s mission, philosophy, and SLE’s
Prepare, deliver, and assess engaging and interactive lessons/units based on Archdiocesan Curriculum Guidelines
Document student learning and report regularly to administration and parents
Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, students, and parents
Supervise students inside and outside of the classroom, maintaining good rapport and effective classroom management
Perform all other duties outlined in the Faculty Handbook or assigned by the Leadership Team
Salary & Benefits
Job Type:
Full‑Time, Exempt position.
Salary:
$54,500 – $104,931 base range (advanced education & certifications not included)
