Job Description
DUTIES
Meets and instructs assigned classes in specified locations and times.
Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
Guides learning toward district curriculum goals, sets clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
Prepares for assigned classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon supervisor request.
Employs varied instructional techniques and media suitable to location and student needs.
Implements district philosophy of education, instructional goals, and performance expectations.
Assesses student accomplishments regularly; provides progress reports and communicates with parents as necessary.
Maintains accurate, complete records as required by law, district policy, and regulations.
Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks specialist assistance as required.
Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Follows district code of conduct and establishes fair classroom behavior rules.
Plans and supervises paraprofessional assignments and writes evaluations.
Marries professional growth program with district requirements and personal expectations.
Participates in teacher evaluation process.
Attends building and district meetings to promote communication and decision-making.
Attends traditional school-sponsored activities (Back to School Night, Open House, etc.) as agreed.
Contributes to district and building decisions regarding budget, facilities, curriculum, and well-being.
Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
QUALIFICATIONS
Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
Appropriate content/program area educator license (Elementary) and grade level (1-6) licensure from Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license.
Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.
