Mission

Through conscious stewardship of the land, the Landscaper/Groundskeeper maintains and enhances a safe, beautiful, and fully functional outdoor environment that supports Sunrise Ranch’s mission and daily operations. This role delivers measurable outcomes in property appearance, grounds safety, irrigation reliability, equipment readiness, and seasonal preparedness through consistent, high‑quality maintenance practices. By serving the mission through conscious work and creating a space of welcome for residents, guests, and staff, the position makes a visible and measurable contribution to the care of shared spaces. Grounds & Landscape Maintenance

Maintain lawns through mowing, edging, fertilizing, mulching, aerating, weeding, dethatching, and general turf care.
Plant, cultivate, and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, grass, and other landscape elements.
Prune and trim trees, hedges, and shrubs using manual and powered equipment.
Install and refresh landscape features including mulch, sod, rock, planters, and decorative grounds elements.
Remove weeds, leaves, branches, and debris to ensure grounds remain clean, safe, and visually appealing.
Perform routine upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, burial sites, planters, fountains, and other exterior property features.
Provide preventative maintenance and care for the Garden, Greenhouse, raspberry patch, and surrounding landscape areas.
Irrigation & Water Systems

Operate, monitor, and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of lawns, flowerbeds, gardens, pastures, and landscaped spaces.
Perform routine irrigation repairs and preventative maintenance to support efficient water flow and system reliability.
Support farm and pasture irrigation needs, including maintenance of irrigation lines, pump houses, and watering infrastructure.
Maintain irrigation systems and water access points serving the raspberry patch and related agricultural areas.
Clean, repair, and maintain water fountains to ensure proper operation and appearance.
Equipment, Tools & Outdoor Structures

Safely operate and maintain landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, tractors, chainsaws, and other powered machinery.
Inspect, clean, repair, and store tools and equipment to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on outdoor structures such as fences, benches, planters, greenhouses, and other grounds‑related fixtures.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to support grounds and facilities upkeep.
Seasonal Projects, Safety & Property Standards

Complete seasonal clean-up projects, including spring preparation, fall restoration, snow‑related grounds support, and weather‑related recovery.
Maintain high standards for property appearance, cleanliness, and safety across all outdoor spaces.
Follow all safety procedures, equipment guidelines, and organizational operational standards.
Report maintenance concerns, repair needs, and improvement opportunities to leadership in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to safely operate vehicles and powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, snow blowers, chainsaws, and electric clippers
Ability to competently use hand tools including shovels, rakes, pruning saws, hedge trimmers, and axes
Physical ability to perform frequent outdoor labor in varying weather conditions
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull landscaping materials, tools, and debris
Basic knowledge of groundskeeping safety practices
Preferred Skills & Experience

Previous experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, irrigation, agriculture, or outdoor property maintenance
Experience maintaining irrigation systems, pump houses, water lines, or decorative water features
Supervisory or team‑lead experience working with staff, interns, or volunteers
Familiarity with preventative maintenance practices for outdoor facilities, tools, and equipment
Experience supporting gardens, greenhouses, orchards, or small farm operations
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50+ lbs. regularly, with heavier loads handled with assistance when needed.
Ability to perform outdoor physical work, including standing, walking, and bending for long periods, as well as climbing, kneeling, reaching, and working on uneven terrain.
Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, and varying weather conditions throughout the year.
Good hand‑eye coordination, stamina, and physical endurance to safely and effectively perform job duties over the course of a full workday.
Ability to safely operate hand and power tools and equipment used in landscaping and grounds maintenance.
