Lower School Lead Teacher

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will be familiar with Classical Christian pedagogy. Have experience with, or training in Classical teaching. Applicants must embody integrity and virtue, articulate and demonstrate a personal relationship with Jesus. The Lower School (Grades 1st-5th) Classroom Teacher provides classroom instruction to students across a variety of subjects in one grade level, and guides students through the routines, procedures, classes, and tasks of the school day. This position requires an educator mature in their walk of faith who loves teaching and shepherding children. He or she will be a person who is personable, organized, and committed to providing a caring and engaging learning environment in which students’ hearts, minds, and souls are cultivated and nurtured.

Key Responsibilities

Teach core academic subjects with a classical, Christ-centered approach

Partner with parents by regularly communicating student growth and progress

Build strong relationships with students and their families

Create a joyful and orderly classroom where students thrive spiritually, academically, and socially

Shepherd students’ hearts through prayer, Scripture, and gospel-filled instruction

Lead the students in practicing healthy habits of mindful attention, following directions, humility, and curiosity

Maintain clear expectations for behavior and participation

Participate in school events, faculty meetings, and the broader life of the school

Qualifications

A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ

Experience teaching elementary students, ideally in a classical setting

Strong classroom management and organizational skills

A heart for discipleship and a love for teaching foundational academic skills

Willingness to uphold and promote the mission and vision of Lighthouse Christian Academy

Eagerness to grow professionally and spiritually within a classical Christian school community
