About Operation Restoration
Operation Restoration (OR) supports women and girls impacted by incarceration to recognize their full potential, restore their lives, and discover new possibilities. At OR, we focus on advocacy, education, economic mobility, and true economic equity for our staff, clients, and community. Our goal is to end the incarceration of women and girls. Incarceration is defined as confinement in prison, jail, immigrant, juvenile or military detention, or a deportation facility. Operation Restoration defines directly impacted women and girls as individuals who are currently or have previously been incarcerated, arrested, or are on probation and/or parole.

About the Position
Under the direction of the Operation Girls Administrator, the Operation Girls Specialist is responsible for advocating, providing mentorship, and empowering girls & young women. The Operation Girls Specialist is expected to develop and expand program initiatives, cultivate and maintain relationships with referral sources (including local youth detention centers), potential volunteer mentors and donors for girls ages 11-17.

Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement long‑term goals and objectives to achieve successful outcomes of the program

Develop a 6‑week summer program curriculum for mentors and mentees that can be utilized throughout the longevity of the program

Develop needed policy and procedures for program

Coordinate the Operation Girls Summer Program and connect youth to employment and work‑based learning opportunities that build skills and promote career exposure

Develop and implement leadership opportunities for girls within Operation Girls

Develop recruitment process to attract both mentors and mentees to the program

Build sustainable monthly initiative of engagement for participants

Implement effective integration strategies under the supervision of Social Services Lead for Operation Girls

Obtain waivers for field trips, transportation services, etc.

Assist with marketing for Operation Girls (flyers, brochures, etc.)

Build rapport with family members of Operation Girls to address barriers or potential barriers that can impede progress

Develop relationships with community organizations, courts, schools, and youth facilities to advance the work of Operation Girls and Operation Social Services for referral purposes

Train mentors and volunteers on proper ways to engage with mentees

Identify and introduce Operation Girls to community leaders who are invested in the advancement of girls as a way to exemplify leadership in the community

Represent Operation Restoration at fundraising and community events

Maintain Operation Girls records by reviewing case notes, logging events and progress to ensure client files match data entered in Salesforce database

Ensure client and program information and data is properly maintained in electronic and paper files

Monitor the program activities on a regular basis and conduct an annual evaluation according to the program evaluation framework

Manage expected program deliverables for grant reporting

Additional Responsibilities

Collaborate daily with Operation Restoration staff to ensure organizational effectiveness

Perform related duties as assigned in support of organizational goals

At times, this role requires flexibility to work outside of standard business hours to support our mission as a community‑centered organization. The role also may include occasional travel.

Desired Qualifications and Skills

Experience with diverse populations

Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, partnering agencies, guardians and various members/groups from the community

Be detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills

Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to multi‑task and problem solve

Be comfortable taking appropriate initiative

2-4 years of experience working with children and teens

2-4 years of experience in a non‑profit setting that provides social services

Commitment to criminal justice reform

Ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects at the same time

Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays Operation Restoration and its programs

Excellent computer skills. Regular use of Microsoft Office and Google products

Ability to work well with diverse groups, balance needs and employ objectivity

Ability to manage timelines, prioritize multiple products and meet demanding deadlines

Ability to work effectively, both independently and as part of a team

Flexibility to meet client needs and organizational changes
