Overview
The
3rd Shift Slitter Lead
is responsible for leading daily slitting production activities while operating and maintaining slitter machinery during the overnight shift. This role combines hands‑on slitting machine operation with team leadership, training, and coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. The Slitter Lead serves as the primary point of contact for the 3rd shift, supports continuous improvement, and helps ensure company standards and production goals are consistently met.
Schedule:
3rd Shift | Sunday–Thursday | 10:00pm–6:30am
Key Responsibilities
Lead and oversee slitting machine operations for the assigned production area during 3rd shift.
Set up, operate, and troubleshoot slitting machines according to specifications and work instructions.
Monitor slitting production output to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are consistently met.
Make slitter adjustments and guide operators to maintain optimal performance and minimize downtime.
Identify, address, and report equipment issues, defects, and production concerns.
Provide guidance, coaching, and hands‑on training to slitter operators and new hires.
Serve as the primary resource for problem‑solving and technical support on 3rd shift.
Maintain accurate production, scrap, and shift‑related records.
Ensure team compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Assist with bi‑annual plant inventories as required.
Communicate production status, issues, and improvement opportunities to supervisors and management.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of slitting machine operation, setup, and basic maintenance procedures.
Prior experience in a lead, senior operator, or team leadership role preferred.
Excellent problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and decision‑making skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to lead by example.
Forklift experience preferred.
Physical stamina, including the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy materials.
