Job Summary
This position exists to analyze, develop, and implement committee & operation activities in support of the industry outreach activities of the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS). The overall purpose is to develop and execute efforts that advance IAS' global reach, impact, and influence by maximizing the effectiveness of the Society's engagement with industry, government groups, universities, and more. The primary function is to implement the IAS's operations, programs, and volunteer efforts, including event planning and administration, marketing, reporting, compliance, and administrative duties. This role reports to the IAS Society Executive Director.

This individual will work with minimal supervision, become knowledgeable of all aspects of IAS businesses, and apply that knowledge in the successful support of operations, programs, and volunteer efforts. Additional duties and special projects may be added over time. The person has limited signing authority for expenditures up to $1,000.

Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative assistance to Education volunteers on webinars, online tutorials, and live courses.

Create and manage registration for education offerings.

Collaborate with IAS Marketing Manager to promote education offerings through newsletters and social media.

Coordinate practice sessions with IAS volunteers and speakers before education offerings.

Attend live education offerings, manage administrative issues, record and upload webinars to the IAS Resource Center.

Work with IEEE Education Activities to provide certificates and/or PDHs.

Process payments for tutorial and course speakers.

Work with IAS Chapter Department Chair to create new chapters and support existing chapters.

Transfer money to chapters for events, giveaways, travel programs, etc., in coordination with IAS Society Administrator.

Promote membership through campaigns, special events, and IEEE Marketing.

Provide administrative assistance to IAS Affinity Groups (WIE, YP, Life, Consultants).

Promote Affinity Groups and their programs with IAS Marketing Manager.

Pay invoices related to Affinity Groups with the Society Administrator and manage transfers to conferences, chapters, and events.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

2-4 years of project management experience, ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

Interpersonal skills for communication with volunteers, members, prospects, consultants, staff, and vendors.

Comfortable addressing groups of varying sizes.

Proactive problem‑solving in daily operations and unexpected situations.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills and ability to gather, organize, and report information coherently.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google applications, Smartsheets, and related tools.

Time management and priority‑setting skills.

Service‑oriented, friendly, and dependable.

Ability to perform work independently with minimal supervision.

Other Requirements
Individuals currently serving on an IEEE board or committee are not eligible to apply.

This position is not budgeted for employer‑sponsored immigration support for persons in F (CPT and OPT), J, H, L, or O status.
