Job Description
Position Summary
The Middle School Assistant Football Coach will promote skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character while ensuring a safe, positive, and developmentally appropriate experience for all student-athletes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan and conduct effective practices that emphasize fundamentals, teamwork, and player development.
Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities.
Teach and model good sportsmanship, leadership, respect, and ethical behavior.
Ensure compliance with district policies, school rules, and league regulations.
Maintain appropriate supervision of student-athletes before, during, and after practices and games.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and administrators.
Collaborate with the Athletic Director on scheduling, transportation, equipment, and facility use.
Support the academic success and positive behavior of student-athletes.
Assist with inventory, care, and return of athletic equipment and uniforms.
Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development related to coaching and safety.
Qualifications
High school diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred.
Prior coaching experience and/or playing experience preferred.
Knowledge of rules, strategies, and skill development appropriate for middle school students.
Ability to work effectively with adolescents.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
Completion of district-required coaching certifications and background checks.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, run, and demonstrate skills during practices and games.
Ability to lift and move athletic equipment.
Ability to work evenings and occasional weekends.
Work Environment
Outdoor settings.
Exposure to noise, crowds, and physical activity typical of athletic events.
