Career Advising and Work-Based Learning Coordinator
Minimum bachelor's degree required. A master's degree in education preferred. Must have a valid Tennessee teaching license with secondary endorsement. High school experience preferred. This is a full-time, 10‑month position that includes benefits.
Salary will be determined by the Board. Position type: Full‑Time. Salary: $52,207 per year.
Job Summary
Under general direction of the Career and Technical Director and Secondary Supervisor, the Career Advising and Work‑Based Learning Partnerships Coordinator is responsible for working with district staff, school site staff, students, businesses, and community organizations to plan, develop, and implement career advising and work‑based learning.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Develop, oversee, and maintain the High School and Beyond plan and Academic Career Plans (ACP) for all students.
Develop procedures for discussing results of Interest and Aptitude surveys with families and creating plans to meet career pathway goals.
Plan seamless transitions from middle school to high school and onward to post‑secondary success, including CTE courses, industry credentials, dual enrollment, early college, pre‑apprenticeships, work‑based learning, etc.
Plan, develop, and implement Work Based Learning experiences and placements for all students with employers, including internships, pre‑apprenticeships, and apprenticeships.
Oversee and promote Work Ethic Diploma opportunities.
Provide college/career exploration opportunities via software, industry tours, field trips, job fairs, and family engagement events.
Serve on community college and career planning committees.
Develop procedures to recruit students for Industry 4.0 opportunities and provide career coaching and work‑based learning guidance on a monthly basis.
Research best practices and ensure compliance of the WBL program with state and federal regulations.
Assist employers with program development and act as primary contact for employer concerns.
Develop system to monitor student progress through WBL, maintain records and data, and prepare documents.
Represent BTCS at workshops, conferences, and meetings with business and educational leaders.
Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences related to employment trends and strategies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required.
Master’s degree in education or related field preferred.
Required Licenses or Certifications
Valid Tennessee teaching certificate at appropriate grade level.
Key Competencies
Knowledge of library functions, cataloging, record‑keeping, and modern office practices. Skills in technical library duties, assisting students, oral and written communications, using tact, patience and courtesy. Abilities in organizing, inventory, maintaining records, and establishing effective relationships.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
May require lifting objects that exceed 25 lbs. Other demands include pushing, pulling, climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, hearing, seeing, adaptability, and exposure to temperature, fumes, dust, noise, and cleaning chemicals. Work in a normal environment.
