Qualifications
Current Missouri valid, unencumbered, undisciplined license to practice professional nursing
Bachelor of Science in Nursing required, Master's in Nursing Education preferred
Ability to obtain a Missouri DESE Career Education License to teach adults
Teaching experience preferred
Participation in professional organizations preferred
Required Experience
Recency: 2+ years of professional nursing experience within the last 5 years.
Setting: Acute care or long-term care environments.
Scope: Direct clinical practice involving complex health needs, clinical judgment, and management of multiple patients.
Experience obtained in outpatient settings (e.g., physician offices), assisted living facilities, or other settings primarily serving stable or low-acuity clients does not meet the intent of this requirement and will not be accepted.
Job Description
Responsible for the instruction of practical nursing classes and curriculum development to meet the standards of Cass Career Center, DESE, and the Minimum Standards of the State Board of Nursing.
Provide clinical supervision and evaluation of students.
Develop and maintain up-to-date objectives, lesson plans, and instructional materials.
Maintain records on student progress, attendance, and other information as required.
Be accessible for student counseling by providing time, privacy, and referrals as needed.
Maintain and update the practical nursing library and resources.
Work to promote desirable relationships with cooperating agencies and promote positive community relationships.
Participate in professional organizations.
Serve as a member of the practical nursing advisory board.
Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
Accompany students to seminars, conferences, and visits.
Assist the coordinator in the development of program objectives, selection of texts, budget preparation, updating of brochures and handbooks, and keeping track of equipment inventory.
Collaborate with the entire PN staff to evaluate student progress and policies and procedures in place to evaluate student progress.
Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the program.
Perform such responsibilities as may be assigned by the CCC Administration, the Adult Education Coordinator, and the PN Coordinator.
A separate contract is included for 37 extended days to perform duties to complete the practical nursing school year.
