
Postdoctoral Research Associate- Joshi

Position Summary
The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia is accepting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Precision One Health Initiative. The successful candidate will work on highly pathogenic avian influenza virus (HPAIV) vaccine related projects, focusing on the development of vectored and replicon vaccines. The role involves developing recombinant viral vectors, conducting vaccine efficacy trials in animal models (mice, chickens, cattle), performing advanced virology and immunology assays, preparing next‑generation sequencing libraries, and contributing to grant writing and manuscript preparation.
Responsibilities
Clone influenza antigens into viral vectors.
Design and conduct vaccine trials in animal models.
Perform immunological and virological analyses on samples collected from animal experiments.
Develop adeno‑associated virus (AAV) expressing broadly neutralizing antibodies.
Maintain virus stocks and conduct virus isolation, titration, and neutralization assays.
Conduct bioinformatics and statistical data analysis.
Mentor junior lab members and present research findings at national and international meetings.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD in Virology or a related biomedical field and be trained in molecular cloning, virus culture, and animal model work. Candidates should be proficient in data analysis and visualization tools such as GraphPad Prism and RStudio. Experience with flow‑cytometry and next‑generation sequencing data analysis is preferred; experience working in a BSL‑3 laboratory is desirable. Independent and collaborative work skills, and a willingness to mentor junior members, are required.
Citizenship
is required due to federal security requirements for conducting research at the USDA facility.
