Summary
Under general direction, compounds, prepares, dispenses and maintains control of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies in the hospital or clinic. Performs related duties as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Compounds, prepares, packages and dispenses drugs and pharmaceuticals according to Federal and State law requirements; supervises Pharmacy Technician and other support staff on above duties.
Keeps informed of new drugs and pharmaceutical developments; services as a pharmaceutical consultant to medical and nursing staff.
Keeps or supervises records of drugs, poisons, and controlled substances ordered, received, and supply on hand as required by Federal and State laws; estimates needs and orders drugs, pharmaceuticals and chemicals as needed to maintain an adequate supply.
Reviews the proper storage of drugs on nursing stations, pharmacies or outpatient clinics; removes all outdated drugs.
If performing Bridge shift duties, pharmacist completes refill authorizations on behalf of clinic providers, under Collaborative Practice Agreement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Advanced degree preferred or enrollment in advanced degree program.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy or related field is required.
Minimum Experience: One to three years of experience as a Registered Pharmacist in a hospital preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications: CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training (required for all positions at John George Psychiatric Pavilion; and certain positions in the Emergency Department).
Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid Pharmacist License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
Advanced Practice Pharmacist Certification (required to be assigned to Bridge Clinic).
Pay Range
$106.43 - $106.43 per hour.
