Job Description
The Mechanical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering, Computer Science & Technology at Cal State LA seeks a pool of part‑time faculty lecturers to fill courses and laboratories on an as‑needed basis during the 2026-2027 academic year. Positions will be filled semester by semester and may be offered on short notice.

Duties

Instruction of existing mechanical engineering courses and laboratories.

Course preparation, grading, and maintaining office hours.

Assist full‑time faculty course coordinators as needed.

Other duties assigned by Department Chair/College Dean.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and substantial teaching experience for lower‑division courses; or master’s degree for upper‑division undergraduate courses; or doctoral degree or master’s degree and substantial teaching experience for graduate courses.

Demonstrated excellence in college‑level teaching.

Strong written and oral English skills.

Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive, collaborative environment.

Relevant work experience and training in the field.

Salary

Lecturer A/2 (FTE): $5,507 – $6,677 per month.

Lecturer B/3 (FTE): $6,221 – $13,224 per month.

Lecturer C/4 (FTE): $6,825 – $14,523 per month.

Lecturer D/5 (FTE): $8,593 – $15,211 per month.

The anticipated monthly hiring range is generally near the minimum of the applicable range, most new lecturers hired at Lecturer A or B rank.
