
Dietary Technician

Nyack Ridge is currently recruiting for a
Dietary Technician or Nutritionist Assistant.
The Diet Technician's role is to assist the Director of Food Services in assessing individual nutritional needs, implementing dietary prescriptions, and providing feedback on acceptance and tolerance of nutrition therapy. Dietary Tech may be responsible for other duties as assigned.
Job Summary
Collecting, calculating, and recording medical record nutrient intakes as necessary (Calorie count)
Weekly meal rounds, Resident visits daily, distribution, and retrieval of residents’ selective menus.
Update diets/food preferences on the computer system.
Keep the Food Service Director informed of changes in resident status, diet, or nutritional problems.
Update seating charts in dining rooms.
Complete assessments via Computer.
Complete nutritional assessments annually and quarterly.
Help with tray tickets as needed.
Monitor food temperatures using test trays.
Attend the Menu committee and complete minutes.
Attend care planning meetings.
Perform daily clerical duties in relation to menus.
Participate in and reinforce patient education and quality assurance monitoring.
Qualifications
A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nutrition is preferred.
Appropriate experience will be considered instead of education.
Must have Long Term Care experience.
Knowledge of applicable State & Federal guidelines.
Ability to maintain pleasant working relationships, present organizational skills, and strong computer skills.
Ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
Flexibility in work schedule and/or assignments to meet the needs of the job, unforeseen illness, or other crises.
