
Registered Nurse - CT Cardiology

Job Summary
Pre-Procedure Care:
Conduct patient assessments, including medical history, allergies, and medication review
Educate patients and families about procedures, risks, and post-procedure expectations
Obtain informed consent and ensure all pre-procedure requirements are met
Initiate IV access and administer pre-procedure medications as ordered
Intra-Procedure Care:
Assist physicians during CTA
Monitor vital signs, sedation levels, and patient status throughout procedures
Administer moderate sedation and medications per protocol
Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control standards
Respond to emergencies and assist with resuscitative measures if needed
Post-Procedure Care:
Monitor patients during recovery for complications (e.g., bleeding, adverse reactions)
Provide discharge instructions and patient education
Document procedures, medications, and patient responses accurately
Coordinate follow-up care as needed
Perform triage functions, prioritize patient needs, and recognize urgent cardiac symptoms requiring immediate intervention.
Collaborate with cardiologists, radiologists, and the multidisciplinary team to optimize diagnostic efficiency and patient outcomes.
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and imaging standards.
Adhere to Upstate policies, procedures, safety protocols, radiation-safety standards, and infection-prevention guidelines.
Demonstrate professionalism and uphold the organization’s mission, values, and service excellence standards.
Office Equipment Used
Cardiac monitor, telephone, fax machine, computers and printers, copier and shredder.
Computer Systems Used
EPIC, Outlook Email, Excel, Word
Minimum Qualifications
NYS licensed/registered RN. Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in cardiac care is strongly preferred (CCRN).
Work Days
Monday - Friday daytime hours
