Job Summary
The Department of Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Physics of the Gregory H. Olsen College of Engineering and Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University is seeking to hire adjuncts to teach physics lecture and/or lab sections on the Metro campus during the summer sessions as well as the academic calendar year. These sections meet in person and are scheduled to meet during the day and/or the evening.
Responsibilities
Provide quality instruction for undergraduate STEM students
Guide students through the performance of weekly physics lectures and/or laboratory experiments.
Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate feedback in a timely manner
Hold regular office hours
Track student attendance
Submit attendance verification, midterm grades and final grades online
Reply to emails from students, lab coordinators, and administrators in a timely manner
Commit to contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
Follow established teaching protocols within the physics program
* Quality instruction includes, but is not limited to, arriving on time and prepared to engage students through evidence-based active learning pedagogies, and/or assisting students with data collection and analysis via thoughtful guidance and encouragement.
Required Qualifications
A minimum of a master’s degree (or equivalent) in Physics or a closely related field is required. Preference will be given to applicants with previous teaching experience. Interested applicants should submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae/resume.
Additional Employment Conditions
Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
