Job Summary
An Apprentice Electrician is an entry‑level electrical trainee enrolled in an apprenticeship program to learn the concepts and skills necessary to become a certified electrician. As an Apprentice, an Electrician will receive two types of training: classroom education and on‑the‑job paid training. The person for this position must be flexible with work assignments/travel. Schedule is typically 7a‑3:30p M‑F.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment
Keeps all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion and keeps the work area clean at all times
Performing electrical construction tasks under supervision
Assists in wire pulls, mounting and strapping conduits and equipment
Expected to work on (1) man tasks during Apprenticeship after given instruction
Qualifications
Must have reliable transportation
High School Diploma or GED; high school transcript
Must pass pre‑employment assessments which include math/reading and professionalism and mechanical aptitude test
Must pass Urine Drug Test
Must have your own hand tools
Must have a clean criminal background check (Act 34, Act 114, Act 151)
Physical Job Functions
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach over head
Climbs ladders (all types)
Can complete overhead work for full day assignments
Possesses good vision (normal or corrected)
Skills
Must possess basic math, reading, and writing skills
Must possess a mechanical aptitude
Must possess good hand/eye coordination
Must possess manual dexterity
Must demonstrate initiative and creativity
Must be a team player
Must adhere to all safety standards set forth by the company
Training Requirements
On‑The‑Job Training: Must complete a total of 4 years – 8 000 hrs / 2 000 hrs each year of on‑the‑job training in each year of apprenticeship
Classroom Training: Must attend 180 hrs of classroom instruction in each year of apprenticeship training / for 4 years, and maintain a minimum passing grade of 75%
If a recent tech school graduate, may be permitted to “test out” of the first year
