Job Description
Performs the clinical nutrition activities of the patient care areas to ensure optimal nutritional care and education of patients in accordance with established standards of care, compliance with The Joint Commission, state standards, and other regulatory requirements. Supports medical and nursing staff to optimize nutrition care through evidence-based practices.
Principal Accountabilities
Assess the nutrition status of patients on appropriate biochemical, anthropometric, physical and dietary data.
Performs nutrition counseling and education to patients and/or family members.
Maintains quality assurance and evaluates compliance with corporate policies and procedures and State and Federal guidelines.
Develops and participates in educational sessions for staff to increase nutritional knowledge and improve patient care.
Maintains accurate records to meet regulatory agency guidelines and assists in statistical analysis of data and action plans for performance improvement initiatives.
Participated in the efforts of department PI projects and clinical nutrition programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
Must be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND).
Preferred:
Master's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics.
2-3 years of experience in acute care clinical nutrition or relevant area.
