Brief job description
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment that fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of mutual aid/self‑help skills among individuals. The primary roles are to provide the appropriate support tailored to each individual's needs and desires, enable each to live independently and supervise staff. In addition, the Shift Supervisor is expected to recognize when an individual is in a crisis and utilize the appropriate psychiatric and medical backup services.

Responsibilities

Ensure the health, safety & welfare of individuals.

Implement and adhere to established treatment plans.

Maintain all required certifications.

Provide hands‑on supervision of individuals with Autism, including implementing behavior goals and behavior plans.

Flexible to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

Transport residents in agency vehicles as needed.

Maintain client allowance accounts.

Schedule staff at the residence.

Coordinate shopping and proper meal distribution.

Maintain correspondence with Nurse and Medical Coordinator to ensure appropriate medical appointments occur.

Ensure Habilitation Specialist implements program goals.

Coordinate recreational goals.

Report issues regarding vehicles to the supervisor.

Punctuality and regular attendance are expected.

Maintain individual/family confidentiality.

Commitment to company values and adherence to policies.

A positive attitude is a must!

Clear verbal and written communication skills, as well as basic computer competency.

Ability to establish clear professional boundaries.

Perform other duties as assigned by Residential Manager or Residential Assistant Manager.

Ability to run.

Ability to safely assist in lifting individuals of various weights & 20lb items.

Demonstrate patience, learn, and utilize systematic procedures to enhance an individual's independence and quality of life.

I prefer one year of OPWDD experience.

Maintain a Valid Driver's License.

Clearance through state‑mandated Background/Fingerprint Check(s).

Complete Daybreak's Orientation.

Ability to communicate effectively with others and individuals served.

Mandatory Requirements

Verbal and written communication skills.

Computer savvy.

Professional and pleasant attitude.

Residential program or mental health program experience is preferred and required.

Experience working with specialized populations of adults is needed.

Supervisory experience preferred (at least 1‑Year).

The residential Shift Supervisor must work alone in an unsupervised environment.

New York State Driver's (Required).

Education

Bachelor's degree or School Diploma with two years’ experience in the OPWDD field.
