Business Analyst - Pre-Trading | Hybrid | San Francisco (Contract)
Location: San Francisco (3 days/week in-office)
Focus: Pre-trading systems, Agile/Scrum delivery, order management

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented
Business Analyst with Pre-Trading experience
to join our dynamic Trading Technology team. In this role, you will work closely with traders, quantitative analysts, developers, and product owners to gather and translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting pre-trade processes and platforms, with a strong understanding of financial instruments and market data.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with trading, quant, and technology teams to elicit and define business and functional requirements for pre-trade workflows, including order generation, portfolio modeling, and compliance checks.
Translate complex business needs into clear user stories and acceptance criteria within Agile and Scrum frameworks.
Drive end-to-end project lifecycle: from requirements gathering and backlog grooming to UAT coordination and post-release support.
Analyze and optimize existing pre-trade processes and systems for efficiency, scalability, and compliance.
Facilitate daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment and delivery of high-quality solutions.
Support data validation, impact analysis, and documentation across multiple systems and touchpoints.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Computer Science, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or CFA a plus.
5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, with at least 2+ years focused on Pre-Trading systems or workflows.
Deep understanding of investment lifecycle, market data feeds, order management, portfolio construction, and compliance rules.
Strong working knowledge of Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Scrum certification (CSM, CSPO, or equivalent) is preferred.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience in fast-paced, collaborative environments requiring cross-functional coordination.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity OMS/EMS platforms (e.g., Bloomberg AIM, Charles River, Eze).
Exposure to SQL, Python, or other analytical tools is a plus.
Understanding of equities, derivatives, or fixed income asset classes
