Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Database Engineering Lead to architect, manage, and modernize enterprise database environments across hybrid and cloud platforms. The role will provide technical leadership for Oracle and MSSQL Server environments, with a strong focus on Azure cloud migrations, database reliability, and security compliance in highly regulated environments. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in enterprise database architecture, high availability, disaster recovery, and large-scale cloud modernization, along with the ability to lead 24/7 operations teams supporting mission-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Database Architecture & Engineering
Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise database platforms including Oracle and MSSQL Server
Architect high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions using technologies such as Oracle Data Guard, RAC, and replication frameworks
Optimize database performance through indexing strategies, partitioning, query tuning, and capacity planning
Develop and maintain database standards, architecture documentation, and operational runbooks
Cloud & Modernization
Lead large-scale database migrations from on-premises environments to Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS)
Architect hybrid cloud database environments across Azure GovCloud and enterprise data centers
Implement monitoring, automation, and scaling strategies for cloud-based database platforms
Security & Compliance
Ensure database environments meet strict security compliance standards including FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST 800-53, and STIG compliance
Lead remediation activities for security findings including Category I-III STIG vulnerabilities
Support audits, vulnerability assessments, and POA&M remediation tracking
Operations & Reliability
Oversee 24/7 production database operations supporting mission-critical systems
Implement proactive monitoring and alerting using Azure Monitoring, Oracle OEM, and diagnostic tools
Manage backup and recovery strategies using RMAN, Data Pump, and logical backup frameworks
Lead database patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management across multiple environments
Leadership & Team Management
Lead and mentor cross-functional engineering teams supporting enterprise database operations
Establish operational processes for incident management, change management, and production support
Guide junior DBAs and engineers on database architecture, performance tuning, and security best practices
Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to ensure integrated platform reliability
