
Lead Electrician (Automation)

Position Summary

To build on this team, we are searching for a Lead Electrician. This role will collaborate with engineers, project management, and other team members to complete machine electrical requirements per project specifications while mentoring and training entry level Electricians. Lead Electricians work closely with controls and mechanical engineers to design and wire custom automation equipment. The ideal candidate will balance multiple projects, possess a high technical aptitude, and have a broad experience in automation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Work with machine builders and mechanical designers to install, repair, and rebuild electrical systems for various machines
Plan, organize, and control the electrical build process and related costs
Assist Controls Engineers with machine design, and work with Vendors on new products and best pricing.
Mentor and train entry level Electricians in wiring, best practices, and project management
Lead the electrical process and installation of equipment of multiple projects
Communicate open issues, milestones, release status, timing, hours, and budget concerns to Electrical and Project Managers
Assist Electrical Manager in developing electrical team through leadership, experience, positive attitude, and training
Lead collaboration cross-functionally with all departments during various project phases
Communicate with Electrical Manager, Project Managers, and other departments on project progress and status
Wire according to NEC
Coordinate tear down and installation
Complete assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision
Document and communicate machine changes and issues
Effectively and safely troubleshoot wiring and circuits
Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop area
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent certification (Vocational education preferred)
State of Michigan Electrical Journeymen’s License (Preferred)
Minimum 5 years of electrical experience (Automation experience strongly preferred)
Experience leading/managing electrical projects preferred
Experience mentoring, coaching, and training staff
Demonstrated technical aptitude with focus on safety and quality
Proficient in schematic interpretation, panel building, machine wiring, and troubleshooting
Ability to maintain steady pace while bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and climbing into and beneath machines
Experienced in computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. as required
