Senior Cloud Security Specialist (AWS)
to support enterprise cloud security initiatives at the Federal Reserve Board. This role is ideal for a hands-on AWS security expert who thrives in
high-visibility, compliance-driven environments
and wants to influence secure cloud adoption at scale.
You'll act as a
trusted security advisor and technical leader , working closely with engineering teams to strengthen AWS security posture, enforce best practices, and drive continuous improvement across cloud platforms.
What You'll Do
Perform
ongoing security assessments
of AWS cloud infrastructure deployed by engineering teams
Evaluate
Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
against established security standards
Validate compliance with
federal security policies and industry best practices
Assess implementations against the
AWS Well-Architected Framework (Security Pillar)
Identify, document, and remediate
security misconfigurations and control gaps
Develop and maintain
cloud security posture dashboards and reporting
Create and enhance
security configuration standards, guides, and playbooks
Provide
hands-on consultation
to engineering teams on secure AWS implementations
Implement and optimize
AWS-native security controls and services
Lead
security training and knowledge-sharing sessions
with technical teams
Present
findings, risks, and recommendations
to stakeholders
Identify and drive
automation opportunities
across security assessments and monitoring
Recommend and enhance
security tooling and capabilities
Required Experience
Minimum
5+ years of hands-on AWS security experience
Proven expertise designing and implementing
secure, scalable AWS architectures
Strong experience with:
Identity & Access Management (IAM)
Network security design
Security architecture & operations
DevSecOps and vulnerability management
Data protection, Zero Trust, and cloud security best practices
Hands-on experience with
scripting, automation, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
Deep understanding of
security engineering in AWS environments
Demonstrated ability to
independently troubleshoot and resolve complex security issues
Strong analytical skills with a
proactive, solution-oriented mindset
Ability to effectively
advise and influence engineering teams and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
AWS Certified Security - Specialty
(strongly preferred)
AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
Federal Experience (Highly Valued)
Experience working within
federal cybersecurity frameworks and mandates , including:
NIST Cybersecurity Framework
NIST SP 800-53
OMB Memorandum M-22-09
