Position Summary
The Medical Assistant / Patient Services Coordinator is a dual-role position serving as the first point of contact for patients while also supporting clinical services under the direction of licensed providers. This role blends patient-facing customer service, clinical skills, and administrative responsibilities to ensure smooth daily clinic operations and high-quality care.
This position is ideal for a healthcare professional who enjoys variety, accountability, and making a direct impact in a patient-centered setting.
Schedule
Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Thursday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (2–4 Saturdays per month)
Up to 30 hours a week
Employees are expected to arrive 15 minutes prior to shift start.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Services / Front Office
Greet and check in patients in a warm, professional manner
Explain insurance benefits, coverage, and out-of-pocket costs clearly and compassionately
Collect and process patient payments accurately
Answer phones, manage messages, and respond to patient communications
Enter and maintain accurate patient and insurance information in the EHR
Maintain an organized, clean, and welcoming front desk and waiting area
Support scheduling, administrative tasks, and clinic flow
Complete daily cash reconciliation and bank deposits
Clinical Responsibilities
Obtain and document vital signs for all patients
Perform phlebotomy and injections independently
Assist providers with clinical procedures as needed
Operate EKG and point-of-care testing equipment per protocol
Prepare lab requisitions and patient plans in advance
Support efficient patient flow, rooming patients within 10–15 minutes
Clean, stock, and inventory exam rooms daily
Complete all required clinical and operational logs
Handle and process patient specimens according to lab protocols
Perform quality control documentation and instrument maintenance
Identify and report any issues affecting test accuracy
Qualifications
6 months of experience as a back-office medical assistant or completion of an externship in lieu of certification (required)
High school diploma or GED required
Previous experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred
Strong patient service, communication, and interpersonal skills
Comfortable discussing insurance, billing, and payment options with patients
Proficient with electronic health records and Microsoft Office
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask in a fast-paced clinic
