
GPC Solar / BESS / DERs - I&C Technician – South Region

Position Overview
The purpose of this position is to provide O&M support for GPC R2Gen - Solar / BESS / DERs facilities in the South Georgia Region (Valdosta & Albany). The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and reliable operation and maintenance of utility‑scale PV solar plants, distributive energy resources, and battery energy storage facilities across the state of Georgia. Duties include monitoring and operation through SCADA, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of AC and DC systems. Equipment examples include inverters, PV modules, combiner boxes, battery energy storage systems, SCADA systems, plant controllers, metering systems, transformers, switchgear, and RICE generators. The candidate will routinely work with 600V‑1500V DC systems and be familiar with medium‑voltage AC systems up to 34.5kV. The role includes site compliance, contractor administration, environmental, health, and safety responsibilities, and LOTO execution using Generation SafeTK. IBM Maximo is used for work planning, execution, documentation, inventory, and plant equipment issue tracking.
Typical Work Schedule
5/8 or 4/10 shifts, with adjustments as required. Must be available for night, weekend, holiday work, on call, and storm duty.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of industrial or power plant facility operations and maintenance
Demonstrated knowledge in electrical and mechanical safety
Understanding of industrial safety practices such as LOTO, switching, maintenance processes, and basic industrial compliance obligations
Proficiency reading and understanding electrical schematics and prints
Proficient with DC systems and equipment
Fundamental understanding of medium and high voltage AC systems and equipment up to 34.5kV
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
Self‑directed, responsible, and accountable
Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities
Physical fitness for demanding tasks
Responsibilities
Travel to and from site locations around the region or state as needed
May be assigned to one site
Assist with planning, coordinating, and scheduling site maintenance activities and projects
Execute site operations and maintenance activities and projects
Troubleshoot and repair plant equipment
Facilitate and execute site compliance (Environmental, Health, and Safety)
Facilitate and execute site contractor compliance
Act as LOTO administrator, facilitator, and executor
Use Maximo for PMs, CMs, CDs, inventory, PRs, POs, and record keeping
Participate in team meetings (Morning, Planning, Safety, etc.)
Complete all assigned training
Effectively communicate with Team Leader and Team Members
Position Requirements and Preferences
Must live in the South Georgia region within one hour of Valdosta and Albany
Must obtain DBIDS credentials for access to the Marine Corps Logistics Base, Albany, GA
EEI TECH test qualified
Approved two‑year technical associate’s degree from a certified technical institution or military equivalent
Available for extended work hours including nights, weekends, and call out
Flexible, forward‑thinking, and strategic minded
Self‑motivated, customer‑focused, able to work alone or in a team
Effective team player with a positive attitude towards work
Preferred: work experience in Solar or BESS plant maintenance and operations
Preferred: working knowledge of MAXIMO
Preferred: working knowledge of SafeTK
Preferred: contractor compliance experience
Preferred: knowledge of medium and low voltage distribution systems
