
Technical Manager

The Technical Team Manager plays a critical leadership role supporting the growth and operational excellence of the Busbar global line of business. This role is responsible for managing and mentoring a team of technical engineers, driving project execution, ensuring technical compliance with UL and Vertiv standards, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts across the organization. This position requires strong technical knowledge of busbar systems, solid organizational and leadership capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across departments including applications, sales, R&D, Offering, and operations. The role will focus on developing standard practices, driving accountability, and ensuring consistent high-quality engineering output.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers responsible for project execution, design reviews, and BOM accuracy.
Oversee technical drawing submittals, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and internal standards.
Drive adoption and improvement of standardized engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, tools).
Facilitate communication and coordination across regions/plants to improve execution and eliminate inefficiencies.
Champion root cause analysis and lead the implementation of corrective and preventative actions for technical issues.
Collaborate with senior leadership to identify talent needs, training opportunities, and succession planning.
Support new product development, type testing programs, and plant-to-plant product transfer initiatives.
Monitor and improve team performance metrics related to project timelines, quality, and throughput.
Foster a high-performance culture that values accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.
Act as technical escalation point for project challenges and customer concerns.
Proven leadership experience managing technical teams in a manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment.
Demonstrate strong project management skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Strong understanding of busway products, design for manufacturing, and UL product compliance (preferred).
Expertise in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD), PDM systems, and ERP platforms (IFS experience a plus).
Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to drive resolution across cross-functional teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
Ability to prioritize workload, delegate effectively, and maintain performance under pressure.
Familiarity with BIM tools (Revit) and 3D model integration is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree (4-year degree) in engineering-related field (Minimum)
Minimum 3 years of project management experience required (busbar preferred)
Experience in design of low voltage switchgear or busway (preferred)
Hands-on experience with AutoCAD (preferred)
Knowledge of relevant UL codes and standards (UL857, NEC preferred)
Familiarity with type testing, thermal analysis, and short-circuit studies for power distribution equipment.
Good planning and organization skills.

Strong willingness to share knowledge and/or experience
Ability to listen and be open to other ideas.
Ability to show a proactive attitude.
Offers advice and proposes solutions when risks/ opportunities arise.
Strong verbal and written communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS
HND or degree in Engineering, 5+ years of product experience.
Deep technical subject matter expertise in power distribution and Busbar products.
Managerial skills are necessary to plan, measure, and motivate people to continuously improve their output and personal growth.
Exceptional communication skills and ability to build diverse relationships internally and externally.
