Who are we looking for?
The primary purpose of this Engineer position is to apply chemical engineering principles to chemical process design, pilot-plant development, plant scale‑up, and troubleshooting of process problems. The role is part of the Global Process Engineering Group (GPEG) and is responsible for effectively scaling up new chemical processes, improving existing chemical processes and products, and optimizing manufacturing performance. Key responsibilities include performing chemical process and equipment design calculations; supporting the design and specification of process equipment and systems; using Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis tools to monitor, control, and improve process performance; increasing throughput; and identifying cost‑reduction opportunities while maintaining or improving product quality, safety, and reliability.

What will you be doing?

Apply chemical engineering principles to chemical process design, scale‑up, troubleshooting, and optimization for pilot and production operations. Develop specifications and test methods for new and existing production processes.

Perform process and equipment design calculations, including mass and energy balances, fluid flow, heat transfer, mixing, and equipment sizing.

Support the design, specification, and prototyping of chemical process equipment and systems for new and existing manufacturing processes.

Design and execute DoE studies to optimize operating conditions and identify critical process parameters.

Effectively use statistical process control (SPC) and process analytics tools using Minitab, JMP, Python, R‑studio, etc. to monitor, control, and improve process performance.

Conduct root‑cause analysis to solve process challenges using a hypothesis and data‑driven approach.

Demonstrate hands‑on understanding of chemical processes and unit operations, with the ability to troubleshoot process and product issues.

Support pilot‑plant development, plant scale‑up, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, cost, quality, and reliability.

Interface with various departments (R&D, Operations, Quality, Marketing) to ensure processes and designs are compatible for new product technology transfer.

Develop, edit, and maintain Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's), equipment matrices. Have experience with or willingness to learn 3D modelling of piping systems and the development of isometric drawings.

Apply tools like Aspen Plus, ChemCAD or DWSIM for steady‑state and dynamic process simulations, heat and material balance development, equipment design, and process optimization.

Maintain professional behaviour with internal and external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with company policies and practices.

Utilize process simulation software to determine optimal production methods and equipment.

Maintain laboratory safety protocols.

Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Who are You?

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline required; Master’s degree preferred.

Minimum 5 years of experience in chemical process development, scale‑up, or manufacturing; 3 years with a Master’s preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or willingness to obtain.

Demonstrated expertise in reaction chemistry and complex process troubleshooting.

What competencies will you need?

Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
