At MSK, service is at the heart of everything we do. Our Patient Transport team plays a vital role in ensuring patients are moved safely, respectfully, and on time, supporting both patient care and the overall patient experience. In this Lead role, you will provide dispatch and systems support, assist with staff training and daily operations, and partner with the Patient Flow Command Center and other departments to strengthen workflows, resolve operational challenges, and support continuous improvement.

Role Overview:

Supervise efficiency and performance of Patient Transport staff to ensure requests are completed timely and thoroughly

Serve as a functional expert in patient escort and dispatch responsibilities, supporting daily department operations

Support the training and onboarding of new employees by reviewing transport procedures and demonstrating accurate use of equipment and supplies

Provide real‑time mentor and feedback to staff when performance, quality, or timeliness varies from expectations and elevate concerns as needed

Assist leadership with coordinating assignments and supporting workflow coverage based on daily volume and staffing needs

Transport patients safely via wheelchair, stretcher, or walking escort, following patient identification procedures and departmental routes

Pick up and deliver routine and STAT items such as specimens, charts, and requisitions, ensuring accuracy and readiness for patient care

Key Qualifications:

2–4 years of experience in a Patient Escort Service Aide / Patient Transport type of role (preferred background)

Ability to work in a fast‑paced healthcare environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining service perfection

Comfortable performing physical tasks related to patient transport (walking, pushing, assisting with mobility support, moving equipment)

Basic computer skills and comfort using EPIC Grand Central for dispatch, transport tracking, and request navigation

Core Skills:

Proven problem‑solving and ability to make sound decisions in real time

Strong verbal communication and listening skills with a customer‑service mindset

Ability to build strong relationships with patients, clinical teams, and support departments

Ability to lead, guide, and support others while maintaining professionalism and accountability

Organized and able to handle multiple priorities while staying calm under pressure

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 11:15pm to 7:15am. Every other weekend and rotating holidays
