In this position you will gain valuable knowledge of our Sonic Drill heads. Time will be spent mainly in the workshop, with opportunities to travel to jobsites. Duties in the workshop will include training, drill head repairs and overhauls. Time spent in the field will be for trouble shooting drill head issues and exchanging drill heads. Responsibilities
Applicants should be eager to learn, be self‑motivated and have a desire to become a team leader.
This person will perform a variety of duties designed to service, repair and maintain Boart Longyear’s Fleet of Sonic Drill Heads and support equipment.
Must have the ability to diagnose mechanical problems in equipment and be able to perform quick turnaround to get these drill heads back in operation.
Mechanic must be able to remain in a standing position for extended periods of time. You need to be able to lift your arms above shoulder level to install and remove broken or worn‑out components.
You must have skills in the care and use of hand and power tools and be able to manipulate these tools in areas of limited space.
You must be able to work safely and adhere to all policies and requirements.
Perform routine maintenance of equipment.
Willing to work in adverse weather conditions.
Be willing to travel.
Must be able to work well with others and have a positive attitude.
Must be able to communicate with supervisor, driller and safety personnel.
Must have the ability to follow instructions while paying close attention to detail.
Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
Hydraulic systems experience is preferred.
Knowledge of small engine repairs is preferred.
Knowledge of duplex and triplex mud pumps is preferred.
Knowledge of failure analysis and root cause preferred.
Be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
Pass a drug screen.
Pass a background check.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Must be able to be MSHA/OSHA certified.
