Job Summary
Experienced plumber needed to oversee inmate crews, maintain tools and equipment, and conduct preventive maintenance of all plumbing fixtures at the Arizona State Prison Complex – Tucson. Tasks include cleaning sewer drains, repairing plumbing fixtures, and conducting general maintenance.
Job Duties
Cleans small and large sewer drains and repairs toilets, sinks, faucets, water heaters, and boilers
Installs plumbing fixtures, plumbing drains, and water lines
Conducts general maintenance as instructed by supervisors
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of general building and preventative maintenance
Knowledge of water heaters, water softeners, water boilers, drainage, waste systems, backflows, and plumbing tools/equipment
Knowledge of national and local building codes and safety practices
Knowledge of commercial gas lines
Knowledge of basic blueprints
Knowledge of basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suites
Skill in written and verbal communication
Skill in scheduling maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance programs for the facility
Skill in time management and organizational techniques/methods
Skill in establishing and maintaining interpersonal and employee relationships within all organizational levels
Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs
Ability to push/pull up to 50 lbs
Ability to walk/run up to 0.25 miles
Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and sketches
Ability to remodel, install, and construct utility services
Ability to work in a prison environment
Selective Preference(s)
One (1) year of journeyman-level plumbing experience
Pre-Employment Requirements
Employment is contingent on passing a background investigation, drug test, medical/physical examination, and, if driving is required, having a current valid driver’s license and completing required training. All employees are required to complete a Tuberculosis (TB) test during new employee orientation and annually thereafter. All newly hired State employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
