Job Summary
Position responsible for the safe and efficient packaging of the final product to be shipped by a freight carrier.
Responsibilities and Duties
Pack jobs in the order set forth by the Lead
Inspect final product for visual defects and return to inspection as needed
Notify the Lead if the packing equipment shows signs of needed maintenance
Identify various species and grades of lumber
Operate a forklift safely and correctly
Strong communication skills with other employees and Lead
Follow all safety guidelines
Be able to read a tape measure
Be able to read and understand a packing slip
Be able to read and understand an assembly sheet
Be a strong team player
Be able to follow directions and adjust to changes throughout the shift
Have strong attention to detail and quality focused
Maintain a clean and clutter free work area
Have a strong desire to learn and great work ethics
Ability to work overtime as needed
Ability to perform other tasks as required by the company
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
Remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
Move about the factory floor to access machinery, materials, and product storage.
Transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Operate, activate, and use production machinery and hand tools that require repetitive motions of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Detect and inspect parts for quality control at close vision (less than 20 inches) and assess safety hazards from a distance (20 feet or more).
The employee will be exposed to a manufacturing environment where the noise level can be loud and will work around moving mechanical parts. Regular exposure to airborne particles and temperature fluctuations should be expected. The use of appropriate PPE is required.
