Job Description
L3Harris – Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Physical/Dimensional Metrology Technician at the Canoga Park Facility in California, which produces propulsion components for NASA, military, and commercial contracts. The technician calibrates, measures, adjusts, and certifies optical and physical dimensional company standards using instruments and hand tools. All tasks follow standard work procedures and the team reports to a Quality Manager.
Essential Functions
Follow written and verbal instructions and interpret documents such as drawings, test procedures, and specifications to plan calibration and measurement operations.
Calibrate, troubleshoot, and adjust precision optical, electro‑mechanical, hydro‑mechanical, or pneumatic measuring tools, reference standards, hand tools, and devices.
Evaluate new or modified optical, physical, and mechanical standards and related equipment used for calibration or measurement purposes.
Maintain and analyze calibration data, identify error sources, and correct malfunctions related to calibration and measurement problems.
Coordinate and resolve issues with standards and equipment with customers and responsible personnel.
Perform technical writing tasks.
Maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Meet standards by following required production and quality requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 3 years of calibration experience, or equivalent experience and training that can be offset with formal metrology training.
Prior calibration experience with micrometers, calipers, torque wrenches, height gauges, pin & ring gauges, humidity and environmental control equipment, fluid gauges, temperature and pressure gauges.
ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or equivalent industry certification.
Preferred Additional Skills
Associate’s degree from a junior college or technical school and a minimum of 5 years of prior calibration experience preferred.
Prior exposure to measurement uncertainty concepts.
Knowledge of ISO 17025 and experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited lab.
Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
Experience developing and validating calibration methods.
Proficiency with GAGEtrak or equivalent calibration software/database.
Basic statistical knowledge (mean, median, standard deviation).
Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Strong attention to detail and a self‑motivated, team‑oriented attitude.
Good written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

Salary range: $33.44/hr – $57.83/hr (final offer may vary by experience and location).
