
Garnishment Services Specialist I

This is a 100% in-office role located at one of our U.S. office locations: Meridian, ID; Rochester, NY; or Schaumburg, IL. Remote or hybrid work is not available. Candidates must be able to work on-site five days per week during designated work hours.
Position Overview
The Garnishment Services Specialist Level I (GSS I) is responsible for providing excellent support for all Paylocity’s clients that subscribe to this service (except emerging markets). Duties include reading and interpreting court orders, setting up garnishment calculations in the HR&P Wage Attachment Wizard, scheduling welcome client calls, and entering multiple child support cases with prorations. The ideal candidate demonstrates an interest in the garnishment field and a desire for continuous learning and improvement.
Primary Responsibilities
Maintain garnishment rules in the system to determine proper withholding from employee wages according to state rules and garnishment type.
Maintain employee garnishment data with applicable start and stop dates for each order promptly according to information contained within the order and applicable deadlines; process ordered wage garnishments such as child support, student loans, wage assignments, bankruptcy orders, and state and federal tax levies.
Process e-file documents to courts (as applicable).
Respond in a timely manner to client garnishment inquiries.
Partner with Account Managers to resolve client inquiries.
Proactively identify issues and utilize available resources to recommend appropriate solutions for clients.
Provide professional and appropriate internal/external communication and progress updates to all stakeholders.
Manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Validate that garnishment orders/writs comply with local, state, federal laws and e‑books.
Provide clients guidance on garnishment compliance best practices, organizational change management, and Paylocity product fit.
Manage emerging markets, mid‑tier, and major clients with appropriate response time, call metrics, DOCC client service experience, and provide garnishment policy updates with federal, state, and local legislative changes.
Review GMS Community page and GMS Teams Channel for resolution to client issues and best practices.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive employee information.
Complete other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a client‑facing role, payroll, accounting, finance, garnishment processing, or taxes in a customer service or shared services call center environment.
Experience in a Paylocity account manager or implementation consultant role is preferred.
Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
Must demonstrate sophisticated writing and interpersonal communication skills.
Attention to detail.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to manage changing priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to a changing business environment.
Ability to problem‑solve, analyze information, work in a team environment, and demonstrate professionalism.
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply the legal mandates and restrictions related to garnishment laws and regulations.
General knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations and garnishment laws.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods (typically 7‑8 hours a day). The role requires sitting at a desk or workstation for long periods.
Use of computer and phone systems: Must be able to operate a computer, use phone systems, and type, including using multiple software programs and inquiries simultaneously.
Compensation and Benefits
The base pay range for this position is $34,000 - $55,000; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
