Job Title: Exceptional Children’s Teacher
Term of Employment: 10 months
Responsibilities
Ability to assume primary responsibility for the planning and implementing of the daily program for children with special needs
Ability to work well with children and staff providing guidance to foster optimum development
Ability to provide leadership in a classroom setting
Ability to relate, work and communicate with children and adults
Develop and maintain appropriately written Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for students with special needs and ensure these plans are being implemented
Learn and use the Every Child Accountability & Tracking System (ECATS)
Provide children with a safe and healthy learning environment; advance their physical and intellectual growth; support social and emotional development; provide positive guidance and discipline; establish positive relationships with families; and encourage their involvement in the education of their children, ensuring a well-run purposeful program responsive to participants’ needs; and maintain a commitment to professionalism. It is the responsibility of the EC Teacher to provide training and assistance to the Assistant Teacher in developing group/individual activity plans, classroom management and procurement of needed teaching materials and supplies.
Qualifications
48 hours of college courses and proficient knowledge in the area of child development. Experience with children with special needs preferred.
