Traffic Control Specialist
The Town of Southampton is hiring a full‑time Traffic Control Specialist for our Police Department.
Annual Salary: $57,858.48 plus full benefits package.
Responsibilities
Direct and control vehicular‑pedestrian traffic at intersections, accident sites, special events, and crossings near schools or other high‑pedestrian areas.
Patrol an assigned area to enforce laws, rules, and regulations of parking meters, parking, stopping and standing of vehicles.
Prepare and issue summonses for vehicle, traffic and parking violations.
Observe and record potential or actual violations of local ordinances and report to police officers or fire inspectors for further investigation.
Report inoperative or missing meters and traffic conditions requiring attention.
Prepare required reports; verify information with the Department of Motor Vehicles using data entry equipment.
Qualifications
High‑school graduation or a high‑school equivalency diploma.
Valid driver’s license must be maintained throughout employment.
Position will require an eventual Civil Service exam.
