With over 1,400 employees across four time zones and seven sites, we have more than doubled in size since 2019 and are continuing to grow at pace.Our team is looking for a **Tool Maker** to join our team at Ontic, Chatsworth Office in California- The **Tool Maker** designs, repairs and fabricates all types of complex tools/tool fixtures and dies, using machines (lathes/mills/etc.). Must posses the experience to do difficult machining operations such as: precision boring, grinding, millings, lathe work (i.e. threading/boring/turning). Works from extremely complicated blueprints, drawings, sketches and or oral directions to create and produce intricate dies, tools, fixtures, jigs, models and parts. As required, they must have the ability to fabricate intricate development tooling/test stands as required. Can consistently do extremely close accuracy and tolerances of .00005” or less when required.**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES FOR THIS JOB*** Designing, building, repairing, and maintaining **jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling*** **Expert in manual machining (Bridgeport mills, lathes, surface grinders)*** Strong capability in **tight-tolerance machining** (±0.0005" or better)* **Reading engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications*** Strong understanding of **geometric tolerancing and datum structures*** Proficient with precision inspection tools:* Micrometers, calipers, height gauges* Optical Comparators, bore gauges* Surface plates and indicators* **Strong troubleshooting skills for tool wear, dimensional variation, and process issues*** Ability to recommend **design-for-manufacturability (DFM)** improvements* **Understanding of production flow and tooling impact on cycle time and quality*** Familiarity with traceability, documentation, and revision control**MAIN QUALIFICATIONS:*** **High school diploma or GED required; technical school, apprenticeship, or journeyman certification in toolmaking or machining strongly preferred*** 7–12+ years of experience in **precision machining/toolmaking**, preferably in aerospace or high-spec manufacturing**Our Benefits:*** Comprehensive medical insurance* Competitive PTO, holiday pay, and sick leave* Company 401K plan with up to 4% matched contribution* Annual bonus program (varies by level and discretionary based on company and individual performance)* Flexible working arrangements* Paid volunteering opportunities* Access to mental health champions across our sites* Commitment to development* Employee referral program**#LI-Onsite, #LI-RD1****Compensation Pay Range**35.00 / 38.00*Please click here to review Ontic's .**Ontic Engineering and Manufacturing Inc. is an Equal Opportunity employer.
