How You Will Make an Impact
As a Pro Cheer League Alternate Athlete you are an essential member of the team, supporting the league through your dedication, skill, and professionalism. In this role, you may be called upon to participate in practices, performances, appearances, and other team-related activities at the discretion of the Pro Cheer League (PCL).
Alternate Athletes embody the same level of athleticism, commitment, and representation as active roster members, demonstrating excellence both on and off the stage. You will promote Varsity Brands’ and PCL’s values—Spirit, Passion, Innovation, Respect, Integrity, and Transparency—while serving as a role model for fans and aspiring athletes.
PCL may, at its sole discretion, change your designation between Alternate and Starter at any time, and you will be notified promptly should such a change occur.
What You Will Do, if called upon to be a starter athlete
Compete in high energy team routines at National Pro Cheer League events in multiple cheer categories (i.e. Stunting, Pyramids, Baskets, Standing Tumbling, Running Tumbling)
Perform at games, league showcases, fan experiences, sponsor gatherings, and community outreach.
Attend weekly practices and competition events: estimated total hours Nov (25), Dec (25), Jan-March (40 per month).
Engage professionally as a brand ambassador—sign autographs, support sponsors, and uphold team and company values.
Mentor and inspire through youth clinics, camps, and philanthropic appearances.
Collaborate on social media content and media interactions under guidance.
Execute choreography with precision, athletic power, and polished stage presence.
Learn and adapt to new routines quickly with coach direction.
Maintain brand‑compliant appearance and personal fitness.
Assist in event planning, logistics, and promotional coordination.
Uphold a positive, team‑first attitude, resilience through feedback, and a growth mindset.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Prior experience at high school, collegiate, all-star, or semi/pro level in dance/tumbling/stunts.
Strong athletic foundation: jumps, tumbling, strength, endurance & flexibility.
Exceptional stage presence: confidence, facial expression, and performance energy.
Outstanding teamwork, communication, and ambassadorial skills.
Social media literacy and comfort in public‑facing roles (content, interviews).
Resilient, coachable, and cool under pressure.
Must be at least 18 years old (league age requirement).
Ensure reliable travel for regular face‑to‑face touch points.
Education, Certification and Experience
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Training/certification in dance, gymnastics, or performance arts.
Previous experience in professional‑level representation, media, or youth mentorship.
Physical Requirements
Pro Cheer League Athletes must maintain peak physical condition to perform explosive, high‑energy routines multiple times per event, with strong focus on strength, flexibility, endurance, and recovery.
Travel Requirements
They must be adaptable to nationwide travelling regularly, including weekends and multi‑day trips and perform in a variety of environments, while sustaining practice schedules and upholding professional health standards throughout the season. International travel is possible.
